Located in West Africa, Côte d'Ivoire has a population of over 24 million, of which it is estimated that about 13 million people have universal access to basic sanitation. Immense challenges remain to increase access, due to a combination of low-quality sanitation products, limited technical capacity, and coordination challenges between different actors involved in the local regulation and delivery of sanitation products and services. This case study was produced by USAID’s West Africa Municipal Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (MuniWASH) activity.
