Under the 2022 U.S. Global Water Strategy, USAID’s goal is to improve health, prosperity, stability, and resilience through sustainable and equitable access to sanitation services and hygiene practices. To this end, USAID is committed to generating new evidence that will drive such improvements globally through the Global Water Strategy Action Research Initiative

In Ethiopia, USAID’s Transform WASH activity facilitates linkages between WASH product innovators and local manufacturers and distributors to increase access to key sanitation products. The T/WASH activity also rolls-out training for business owners, health extension workers, and sales agents, and supports masons who work in the design and construction of toilets. T/WASH has accumulated several key learnings from its market-based sanitation activities that will help inform USAID’s global impact in sanitation access and uptake of hygienic practices going forward.

Join USAID, PSI, and partner LIXIL, for a learning event and discussion on the local and global implications.
