USAID and the Global Waters Communication and Knowledge Management II team are committed to protecting individual privacy and securing the personal information made available to us when you visit our site or our official pages or profiles on third-party websites such as Medium, Twitter or YouTube. This Privacy Policy describes what information is made available to USAID and how that information is used and retained. 

Site Management

The content and technology behind GlobalWaters.org are managed by a team of USAID Center for Water Security, Sanitation, and Hygiene staff, with technical support from the Global Waters Communication and Knowledge Management II project.

Information Automatically Collected

When you visit GlobalWaters.org, the following basic information is automatically received and stored by the web servers hosting GlobalWaters.org:

  • The originating Internet Protocol (IP) address
  • Type of device and operating system used to access the site;
  • Type and version of web browser used to access the site; 
  • The pages on GlobalWaters.org that you visit;
  • The internet address, or URL, of the website that connected you to our site if you accessed GlobalWaters.org via a link on another page; and

We use cookies to track new and returning visitor actions on GlobalWaters.org so we may continually improve the user experience. These cookies do not capture personally identifiable information or track interactions outside of GlobalWaters.org.

Email Subscriptions

We use a third-party provider, Mailchimp, to retain the names and email addresses of our email subscribers and other information they may have shared with us, such as job title and organization. We also keep automatically generated email data used to improve our email communications, which may include:

  •  Whether the email was opened
  •  If a link in the message was clicked
  •  Whether an email was delivered
  •  If the email was forwarded

USAID and the Global Waters Communication and Knowledge Management II team maintains official pages or accounts on some third-party websites such as Medium, YouTube, and Twitter to better engage with our online audience. Your activity on those sites is governed by the third-party website’s security and privacy policies. You should also adjust privacy settings on your account on any third-party site to match your preferences.

To improve the quality of our services, we may integrate measurement tools for basic analysis of activity on third-party sites (such as likes and retweets) and do not collect personally identifiable information.

Links to External Sites

GlobalWaters.org may link to websites created and maintained by other public and/or private organizations and individuals. When you follow a link to an external site, you are leaving GlobalWaters.org and are subject to the external site‘s privacy and security policies. We do not endorse the site’s sponsor, any views they express, or any products or services they offer.
